Pookoo Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 24, 2026
Pookoo ("we", "our", or "the app") is an ingredient safety analyzer for food and cosmetic products. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect
We collect the following information to provide and improve the app:
- Account information — if you sign up with email or Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and a unique account identifier.
- Scan data — when you scan a product barcode or take a photo of an ingredients label, we process that data to generate a safety analysis. Scanned product names and barcodes may be stored to improve future results.
- Usage data — we track scan counts to enforce daily usage limits for free accounts.
- Health-related preferences — if you choose to set them, we collect the dietary preferences, food allergies, and heart-health goals you select in the app. Providing these is optional, and they are used only to personalize your results.
- Purchase information — if you subscribe to Pookoo Premium, payment is processed by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple via RevenueCat, our subscription management provider.
How we use your information
- To generate ingredient safety scores and recommendations
- To personalize results using your dietary preferences, allergies, and heart-health goals — tailoring product recommendations and highlighting or excluding items based on your needs
- To maintain your scan history if you are signed in
- To enforce free-tier usage limits
- To manage your Premium subscription status
- To improve the accuracy of our product database over time
Third-party services
Pookoo uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — for account authentication and data storage
- Google Sign-In — for optional account login
- RevenueCat — for subscription and in-app purchase management
- AI analysis provider — a third-party AI service used to analyze ingredients, score products, and generate tailored recommendations
- Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts — open databases used to retrieve product ingredient data
These providers may process data on our behalf but do not use your personal information for their own purposes beyond providing their service to us. When you set dietary preferences, allergies, or heart-health goals, these are shared with our AI analysis provider solely to personalize your recommendations — never for advertising, and we never sell your information.
Data retention
If you are signed in, your scan history is retained so you can view past results. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
If you use the app as a guest without signing in, your scans are stored and associated with a randomly generated device identifier (not your personal identity) so your history is available to you. You can clear this data at any time by deleting the app or requesting deletion.
Your choices
- You can use Pookoo as a guest without creating an account, with limited daily scans.
- You can delete your account and request removal of your data by contacting us at the email below.
- You can cancel your Premium subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings.
Children's privacy
Pookoo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
